Travel Inspirations For Foodies

Travel Inspirations: Theme Travel – For Foodies

One of the most wonderful things about travel is that we get to discover all different types of cuisines and sample wines and beers and other local specialities around the world.

Themed Travel for Foodies

But for many people, food is the reason to travel. “Foodies” –as they are called– are all about the food when they travel.

And there are Foodie destinations —-cities and regions where you’ll find some of the best restaurants in the world.

If food is a big part of why you travel, let’s discuss which destinations you might consider and plan your next vacation around the food!

Marvelous meals are often what you remember most when returning from a trip, so why not make food the main focus of your next vacation? Whether you’re into the wines of Napa and Sonoma, the cheeses of France, or the seafood of the New England Coast, our editors have discovered a destination that will tickle your taste buds.

Culinary Capitals

Many of the world’s culinary capitals specialize in regional dishes that, while imitated outside the city limits, seem to be impossible to recreate anywhere else. (Have you ever tried a beignet outside of New Orleans?) We recommend sampling at least one of the hometown specialties, even if it’s something you typically wouldn’t order. Who knows, you may discover a new favorite dish. Other cities specialize in variety – whatever you’re in the mood for, it can be found in short order.

Cocktails Too

Don’t forget the drinks, which many travelers insist are the best part of a meal. Whether you’re looking for a locally brewed beer, a handcrafted cocktail, or a wine made with grapes from nearby vineyards, a refreshing beverage is within reach. Some destinations offer brewery and distillery tours; be sure to book them ahead and count on a few free samples.

Cook Local

If you enjoy cooking, seek out special ingredients that are either unique to a region or of exceptional quality. Many destinations have markets overflowing with produce from local farms. These make fantastic souvenirs – what better way to remember your trip than by cooking a new recipe or incorporating fresh ingredients into a classic dish?
