Wines on Turtle Island

Our philosophy on wines is similar to our philosophy regarding guests - a diverse variety from many different places and with many different characteristics.

We have selected an exciting range of wines, often from small, award winning vineyards in Australia, New Zealand, America and France.  We are constantly adding (and subtracting) from our cellars - so some of the wines listed below may change and be replaced with something equally interesting from somewhere else.  We have put a lot of effort into the selection and continue to research and, of course, sample.

For most meals, we select wines we feel complement the food served.  Naturally, guests are not restricted to that selection - you only need to ask for a particular wine and it is yours.  At the start of a your stay on Turtle you are shown the range of wines so you can browse before a picnic or dine-out.

We welcome guests' comments. Like all great pleasures in life, wine is  very subjective. Below are descriptions of wines currently on our list.  But please note - we keep a moderate size cellar so occasionally the wine on the list may be on its way to Turtle Island, rather than actually on the Island.

Champagnes - Sparkling Wines

Domaine Chandon Brut - USA

As expected, this wine is very much in the style of Moet & Chandon.  Dry yet soft on the finish.  This champagne style wine has excellent bead and mousse and the deeper yellow colour reflects the presence of Pinot Noir in the blend.

Laurent-Perrier Brut - France

The Reims registry first recorded the name of Laurent-Perrier in 1812 and, although still privately owned, Laurent-Perrier is today the fourth largest producer of Champagne.  This Champagne is elegant, delicate and fruity with a perfect harmony between finesse and refinement.  The quality of this Champagne is assured as a result of Laurent-Perrier's large stock of reserve wines. A beautiful Champagne well suited to the island.

Taittinger Brut Reserve - France

Founded in 1734, Taittinger is one of the few remaining Champagne houses to be managed by people who bear its name, so quality and respect for tradition are a constant priority. This Champagne has a light golden colour, with a slightly floral nose and hints of citrus and vanilla.  The palate displays chardonnay fruit, elegance and finesse with a creamy mousse. Incredibly stylish with wonderful length.

Piries Sparkling Wine – Pipers Brook, Tasmania, Australia

Only just been released in Australia, Pirie’s is sourced from specific sparkling vineyard sites which are based on basaltic soils and are east-southeast facing. This translates to a ripening potential which compares very favorably to conditions in the French district of Champagne; and most sparkling wine connoisseurs will find it difficult to tell the difference! The bouquet exhibits traces of honey, vanilla, lemon, malt and dried fruit with nutty, biscuity baker’s yeast smells. Hailed by wine writers in Australia as the finest sparkling ever made in Australia.

White Wines - Chardonnays

Austins Barrabool Chardonnay  - Victoria, Australia

The nose of this wine is rich and full, with very strong evidence of malo-lactic fermentation. Softened by hints of creamy vanilla there are also notes of grapefruit and passionfruit. Although quite a fresh, zingy nose, the palate holds lots of surprises. A weighty middle palate carries rich peach and kernel nuances and the length goes on and on. Coupled with oak characters and persistent acid, this wine is a winner for drinking now.

Edna Valley Chardonnay - San Louis Obispo, California, USA

Gentle winemaking techniques are used at Paragon Vineyards to create this Chardonnay. Soft but evident acids and a variety of spice and fruit nuances are the result. A gentle fining with natural ingredients adds a richness and depth leading to an impression of peaches and pineapples with an underlying tone of butterscotch, and a slight hazelnut note. Try this one with Asian, Greek or Mexican cuisine.

Fermoy Estate Chardonnay  - Margaret River, Western Australia

Good rainfall and a mild summer in the Margaret River region allowed the grapes to reach their full potential. The fruit is 100% barrel fermented in one and two year old French oak and allowed to remain on lees for a further 5 months before bottling. The resulting wine is full-bodied, dominated by aromas of stone fruit and savoury oak. The palate has flavours of grapefruit and lychee with lingering acidity giving a crisp, tangy finish.

Ninth Island Chardonnay 198 – Tasmania, Australia

The cool but sunny grape growing seasons in northern Tasmania are very suited to production of Chardonnay grapes for this unwooded style. The grapes are harvested in late April from grapes mainly grown on trellises which helps to expose the ripening bunches to the sun. Ninth Island is very pale gold in colour and has an aromatic pear bouquet with traces of pineapple and passionfruit. Wonderful with shellfish.

Seresin Chardonnay  - Marlborough, New Zealand

A pale lemon to straw colour, the Seresin Chardonnay shows grapefruit and citrus aromas, with hints of nectarine to the nose. The palate displays fresh peach and white currant aromas, with well balanced savoury oak and plenty of almond and cashew fruit characters with some aromatic honey characters and a long but clean finish.

Seven Springs Chardonnay  – Oregon, USA

This wine shows huge sweet pineapple, ripe pear, ginger, and toasty oak aroma. Balanced acidity and a toasty finish support the flavours of caramel apples and kiwi. The Chardonnays from Seven Springs Vineyard manage to achieve a depth of flavour and texture that few American Chardonnays can claim.  It matches well with a variety of full flavoured foods.

Vinum Pointe Blanc  – California, USA

A medium bodied, crisp white wine that has intense floral, apricot and honey aromas with flavours of pears and minerals. It is a complex, multidimensional dry white wine with good acidity, palate and balance. Although excellent as an aperitif, this wine compliments a wide range of foods. Only 900 cases produced.

Sauvignon Blancs

Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc  - New Zealand

This Sauvignon Blanc is aromatic of ripe tropical fruits. Waves of mango, pineapple and papaya mingle with the gooseberry and herbal notes so typical of Marlborough. The fresh aromas and flavours are harnessed by a rich, mouth-watering palate, and crisp lingering finish.

Delatite Sauvignon Blanc  - Mansfield, Victoria, Australia

Harvested in late March from grapes hand-pruned and hand picked from the Delatite property, this finely balanced wine shows ripe tropical fruity characters of gooseberry and passion fruit with a tinge of herbaceous ness. The rich aroma, full palate and fresh acidity match perfectly with seafood, especially char-grilled prawns, lobster and scallops. A great wine to drink on a lazy Island picnic.

Frog’s Leap Sauvignon Blanc  – USA

A pure and balanced wine and one of the most asked for at restaurants in the USA. This crisp and vivacious wine boasts unique characters of herbs, liquorice and light melon fruit. The wine is made from the best, the freshest, the most naturally grown ingredients, and is presented in the simplest, most natural way.

Hesperos Sauvignon Blanc  - Margaret River, Western Australia

Hesperos is a Greek god who was carried away by the wind and transformed into a star to be seen from the western extremities of the earth.  The Hesperos Sauvignon Blanc is made from a blend of 85% Sauvignon Blanc and 15% Semillon.  It has been vinificated and aged on lees in barriques resulting in a great complex wine with flavours of cassis, apples and vanilla. It has a hint of smoke and a soft round pallet with a crisp finish.

Lenswood Sauvignon Blanc  - South Australia

The grapes for this wine were picked in early April, with the juices then filtered and fermented cold using natural yeast to retain as much fruit flavour as possible. The wine itself is pungent and intense with both tropical and herbaceous characters and has the usual crisp, lingering flavoursome palate of a wine of this type.

Merryvale Sauvignon Blanc  - Napa Valley, USA

This wine has a brilliant straw colour and bright aromas of vanilla, lemon, straw and grapefruit. On the palate it is very round, rich and broad. The finish is refreshing with good acidity and the flavours of lemon and vanilla seem to linger on and on.

Peerick Sauvignon Blanc  - Pyrenees District, Central Victoria, Australia

The vineyard borders the stunning Pyrenees State Forest (hence a unique microclimate) and shares an environment with a plethora of natural flora and fauna. This unique location, combined with the addition of a small amount of Semillon (12%), gives this wine the tastes of ripe intense fruits, hints of grassiness and a slight chalkiness. A tropical aroma of pear, guava, gooseberry, passionfruit and freshly cut lawn, it has a full, medium bodied, long crisp finish - perfect with green leafy salads.

Pegasus Bay Sauvignon Blanc/Semillon  - New Zealand

The sauvignon juice for this wine was extracted using an airbag press, and then fermented in cool conditions in stainless steel to ensure maximum retetention of sauvignon character. The Semillon was fermented in oak barriques and both were aged separately on their lees for 8 months. The two varieties have complementary, but distinct flavours resulting in a complex wine. The characters are of vibrant passionfruit and gooseberry, with ripe tropical flavours enriched by oaky vanilla. An ideal accompaniment to seafood.

 Reisling

Allan Scott Marlborough Riesling  - New Zealand

Vintnered from grapes planted in 1980 that are now near their maturity, the grapes produce consistent quality and elegance. The  Riesling has strong floral/citrus aromas and flavours that promise to develop in strength and complexity as it ages. A luscious, aromatic wine with weight and concentration that displays a delicate balance between crisp acidity and moderate residual sugar.

Celtic Farm Riesling  – Victoria, Australia

The fruit for this Riesling was sourced from a number of growers in the Clare Valley of Australia. Exceptional juice has produced a wine with a zesty lime/grapefruit character on the nose, underpinned by floral hints. The palate is elegant and shows a lively, juicy, zesty freshness, and the typical Clare lingering finish. Ideal with fresh seafood and lightly spiced Asian dishes.

Grosset Polish Hill Riesling  - South Australia

Meticulously crafted, every nuance of this wine is by design, not accident. The Polish Hill is extraordinarily aromatic, recalling intense citrus, grapefruit and minerals. The taste is lively, zesty and lingers remarkably long.

Heggies Riesling  - South Australia

Innovative viticultural practices in conjunction with good soil, a high altitude and 787mm of annual rain, combine to produce wines of full flavour and balance. Powerful lemons and limes dominate the nose with an underlying herbaceous note. Long and lasting citrus flavours produce a good middle palate boosted by the alcohol. The finish is clean and dry, a balance of fruit flavour and piquant acid.

Howard Park Riesling  - Mount Barker, Western Australia

Winemaker John Wade uses only free-run - first, best quality - juice to produce this bright, pale straw-coloured Riesling in the Great Southern, a cool climate Western Australia region. This wine has intense lime/citrus characters with great vivacity. Its full and persistent flavour is enhanced by crisp, refreshing acids and exquisite balance.

Jasper Hill Riesling  – Heathcote, Victoria, Australia

Established in 1975, this winery is one of the most respected in the country. With the rare attention and care given to each of the yields, it is no wonder that all of Jasper Hill’s wines are highly sought after. The Riesling is no exception with the fruit flavours showing Central Victoria at its best.

Knight Granite Hills Riesling  - Macedon/Sunbury, Victoria, Australia

Established in 1970, Granite Hills is nestled in the boulder-strewn country of the Great Dividing Range on the northern edge of the Macedon Ranges wine region, 85 kilometres North/Northwest of Melbourne. This wine, which received a honourable mention at the Sydney Riesling Symposium, has characteristic lemon lime aromas and underlying hints of stone fruit. The palate is mouth filling, with lively citrus and fruit flavours, and a touch of spice, lingering into a very refreshing natural acid finish. Great with shellfish, smoked salmon and Mongolian barbeque.

Smith-Madrone Riesling  - Napa Valley, California, USA

Still the only winery in America to win a major tasting in Europe, Smith-Madrone consistently produces one of, if not the, best Rieslings in America. The  vintage strikes a perfect flavour balance between sweet and tart. When smelling this wine, sliced peaches and apricots jump to mind but there is also a hint of clove. Dry to the taste, the palate has a long lingering fresh fruitiness. Again, wonderful for picnics and outdoor dining.

  White Wine Varietals

Devil’s Lair Fifth Leg  - Margaret River, Australia

Fifth Leg is a blend of chardonnay (45%), Semillon (21%) and sauvignon blanc (34%). In order to capture the fresh, vivacious flavours of Margaret River Semillon and sauvignon blanc, this wine is fermented in stainless steel and bottled in its youth. The success of the vintage is immediately obvious through the nose - racy aromas of passionfruit, grapefruit and lemongrass assail the senses. The palate follows suit with vibrant citrus and passionfruit characters from the sauvignon blanc and the Semillon. Beyond, the chardonnay component provides weight and mouth feel, with flavours reminiscent of freshly cut honeydew melon.

Dowie Doole Chenin Blanc  - McLaren Vale, South Australia

The grapes were hand picked from very old gnarled vines. The wine is new, fresh and clean with a palate that is delicate and soft. The fresh fruit flavours of lychee, pineapple and apricots come through with an herbaceous tropical nose and clean, crisp finish. Perfect for a picnic of sushi, chicken and salad.

Duckpond Pinot Gris  &  – Oregon, USA

This wine was made 40% in stainless steel tanks and 60% in barrels. With a partial barrel fermentation the wine is rounded out and additional flavours are acquired without detracting from the varietal characteristics of Pinot Gris. Grapefruit, apples and pears mingle with hints of floral and resin. The finish is lingering and smooth, resounding with almonds and citrus.

Eyrie Vineyards Oregon Pinot Gris  - Willamette Valley, Yamhill County, USA

First produced in 1970, David Lett’s Pinot Gris remains the acknowledged benchmark for this increasingly popular varietal. This wine has a slightly velvety texture and subtle flavours with hints of vanilla and cedar. Its medium body and balanced acidity make this a versatile food wine, but it matches exceptionally well with seafood.

Mount Pleasant Elizabeth Semillon  – Hunter Valley, New South Wales, Australia

Mount Pleasant exemplifies a classic Australian wine style – the Hunter Valley Semillon. This vintage is a straw, lemon colour with grassy citrus fruit aromas. The palate features fresh, spicy, citrus fruit blends with the nutty, honeyed flavours of bottle aged Semillon.

Primo Estate Colombard  - Virginia, South Australia, Australia

Australian wine writer, James Halliday, says that winemaker-proprietor, Joe Grilli, is a magician with this variety, “annually converting a sow’s ear into a silk purse.” Bright green-yellow, this wine has that extra edge of vinosity and fruit flavour on bouquet and mid-palate, with tangy characters often associated with sauvignon blanc. It has a crisp, dry finish and is a great partner to seafood.

Puiatti Pinot Grigio  - Fruili-Venezia Giulia, Italy

The Puiatti family has been making wine since 1967 under the name of Enofruilia and under the Puiatti label since 1982. The Puiatti philosophy is to never mask, but rather to celebrate the distinct aromas, flavours and

character of the grapes from which the wines are made. The Pinot Grigio is a highly scented wine, encompassing fragrant wildflowers, melons, pears, citrus and walnuts. The palate has layers of flavours - nuts, honey and pears - with lemon and grapefruit acidity. A very classy and complex wine that has the texture of a great Burgundy (Chardonnay) balanced by a refreshingly crisp quality.

Rochecombe Tasmanian Dry White – Pipers River, Tasmania

This northern Tasmanian wine is perfect to serve as a house white anywhere in Fiji due to its light refreshing quality and affordability. Delicate floral scents, limey overtones and a touch of green herbs make this one easy to enjoy with any meal.

Wild Horse Malvasia Bianca  - San Bernabe, Monterey County, California

In keeping with its intense varietal characteristics, this wine exhibits heady aromatics of lychee, nectarine and guava with faint notes of pine needles. While these initial sensory evaluations might lead you to believe this wine will finish sweet, it is here that the Malvasia fools you. The finish is instead one that is crisp, long refreshing and completely dry. This variety’s exotic flavours make it an ideal candidate to pair with foods of the Pacific Rim.

Red Wine - Cabernet and Cabernet Blends

Cape Clairault Red  - Margaret River, Western Australia

This is a flavoursome blend of three grape varieties all grown in the Margaret River area - the Cabernet Sauvignon contributes minty, blackcurrant flavours; the merlot demonstrates a very appealing warm spicy element; and the cabernet franc has a crisp leafy-mulberry flavour which adds depth and complexity to the blend.  A soft and appealing wine for immediate drinking.

Grosset Gaia Cabernet Blend  – Clare Valley, South Australia

A shooting star since 1990, this blend of cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and merlot has perfumed plum, raspberry, dark cherry and smokey oak aromas. It is soft with a velvety texture, lush ripe plum and black cherry characters, with hints of charry oak.

Matua Valley Matheson Cabernet/Merlot  – Hawkes Bay, New Zealand

Produced on the red metal soils of Ngatarawa that are becoming renown for production of high quality red wine, this one offers expressive flavours of ripe fruit and toasty oak. Black cherry, plum and vanilla nuances top off this ideal wine to have with beef and lamb dishes.

Moorooduc Estate Cabernet - Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia

This wine is a mix of Cabernet Sauvignon (83%), Merlot (10%) and Cabernet Franc (7%). It has developed beautifully over the past few years and has a dark deep red colour with a complex, heady, perfumed nose of spicy chocolate, blackcurrant and wild rasp berried with hints of cedar, roses and violets.

Seville Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Franc Merlot - Victoria, Australia

A brilliant brick red in colour, with a bouquet of blackberries and cassis, all with a perfumed earthy overtone. The palate shows an explosion of berry fruit flavours on a background of fine tannins and a balanced acid finish. The flavours linger on. A fine example of an Australian Bordeaux blend.

Temple Bruer Merlot  – Langhorne Creek, South Australia

This reserve merlot shows berries, vanilla and mint on the nose with a rich mulberry flavour complexed with intense, but soft oak on the palate. Grapes were hand picked and, after crushing, were fermented openly.  This wine was recognised with an international gold medal at the  Wine & Spirit Competition in London.

Pinot Noir and Pinot Noir Blends

Black George Pinot Noir  – Manjimup, Western Australia

Full of fresh, ripe berry fruit flavours, soft smoky oak characters and subtle tannins, which have integrated harmoniously to produce an elegant, soft, light bodied but full flavoured style. Though somewhat reminiscent of an Old World Pinot, with its gentle tantalising complexity, it reflects the New world qualities of full flavoured fruit and freshness captured by modern viticulture and winemaking practices. Overall, the wine is light in body but full in flavour with distinctive plum, raspberry and jammy strawberry fruit characters, silky tannins and subtle oak.

David Bruce Central Coast Pinot Noir  – California, USA

This wine combines fruit from Monterey, San Benito, and Arroyo Grande and even a little from the Santa Cruz Mountains. Exhibiting ripe berry fruit, modest toasted oak and a silky palate, this will accompany a wide array of food from salmon to lamb.

Freedom Hill Pinot Noir  – Oregon, USA

The fruit used for this blend is the least affected by vintage variation, producing huge wines even in difficult years. It is one of the most tannic and dense wines from the St Innocent winery. The grapes are a blend of 2/3 Pommard and 1/3 Wadenswil clone. Enjoy!

Heemskerk Pinot Noir  – Pipers Brook Vineyards, Tasmania, Australia

Sourced from the Pipers River region in northeast Tasmania, this wine tastes of cherry fruit with hints of spicy/gamey characters. Subtle oak complements the supple palate as a result of maturation in French oak barrels. James Halliday (Australia & New Zealand Wine Companion) gives the Heemskerk Winery 4 out of 5 stars for their consistency in producing high quality wines.

Stonier's Pinot Noir  - Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia

One of the best Stonier's Pinots produced to date. The wine has a brilliant burgundy colour with smoky aromas of plums, strawberries and cherries. The flavours are predominantly of cherries and plums and the palate exhibits sweet fruit on the middle palate and fine tannins on a lingering finish.

 Shiraz

Abbott’s Cirrus Cabernet Shiraz  – Cabardes, France

The Cabardes region is situated in the southern foothills of the ‘massif central’ to the west of Carcassonne. The climate is influenced by both the Mediterranean and Atlantic, giving rise to great finesse and complexity in the wine produced. Abbotts Cirrus Cabernet Shiraz is well integrated and balanced, with the elegant spiciness being complemented by the mulberry capsicum freshness and fine tannins from the Cabernet Sauvignon. A perfect accompaniment for any grilled meats as well as pasta.

Cleveland Estate Redcastle Shiraz  – Lancefield, Victoria, Australia

This wine will turn a few heads at 15% alcohol! With a depth of spicy fruit and tannins sure to excite the heartiest of great Aussie Shiraz lovers, the bouquet is rich berry with complex oak. Your mouth will be filled with earthy fruit flavours.

Eppalock Ridge Shiraz  – Bendigo Region, Victoria, Australia

This is a classic central Victorian/Heathcote red – the colour is deep, dark and purple. The nose exhibits all those characters of pepper, spice and cherry/plum leading on to a full and generous palate of fruit and vanillin oak, and all brought together with satiny soft tannins.

Peter Lehmann Shiraz – Barossa Valley, South Australia

The famed Barossa Valley of South Australia is noted for its red wines made from Shiraz, and Peter Lehmann's are at the top of the list. The deep ruby colour is supported by rich, supple fruit and a firm tannin finish. It is a perfect accompaniment to cheese and red meat dishes.

Rymill Shiraz  – Coonawarra, South Australia

This is a firm, ripe Shiraz with even more flavour than most from this famous region. If you enjoy flavour, but also restraint, this one is for you – wholemeal and savoury, yet white pepper and intense raspberry scented at the same time.

Tim Adams Shiraz  - Clare Valley, South Australia

This blend from three outstanding vineyards has produced a wine with both regional and varietal definition. It has an excellent balance of fruit (mulberry, violet flower), spiciness and complexity given by 12 months American and German oak maturation (vanillin). In the front and middle, the palate is full and soft with flavours of small berry fruits. The finish is medium firm with flavour of tannins from both fruit and oak.

Other Reds

Hewitson Old Garden Mourvédre  – Barossa Valley, South Australia

The Mourvédre fruit is picked fully ripe. It is one of the last vineyards to be picked in the Barossa Valley, which soften, and develops the tannins, while concentrating aromas and flavours. The wine is intense, concentrated with blueberry fruit and a mild gamy aroma. Secondary aromas of coffee and dark chocolate emerge.

Peter Lehmann Clancy’s Gold Preference  - Barossa Valley, South Australia, Australia

This great Barossa blend has rapidly established itself as a favourite with lovers of red wine - both consumers and wine judges alike, being awarded 3 gold medals to date. This blend, predominantly Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot and Cabernet Franc, is as Australian as Banjo Patterson’s mythic hero from which the wine derives its name. The wine is overflowing with generous full fruit flavours offering enjoyable sipping.

Charles Melton Rose of Virginia  – Tanunda, South Australia

A true light red style showing lifted perfumed Grenache characters of cherry and berry, and a lovely rich but crisp and elegant palate. This refreshing style matches a wide range of foods and, in the mouth, is a juicy raspberry flavoured drop.

Shenandoah Sobon Estate Rhone Rose  - Amador County, USA

This rose is a mix of Grenache (81%) with the remainder being Syrah and Cinsualt. It has a fresh nose with a crisp, dry finish and flavours of cherry, watermelon and strawberry.  It was rated a 90 by Wines International and a 93 by Wines & Spirit. Only 495 cases made.

Yering Station Pinot Noir Rose Extra Dry  &  – Yarra Glen, Victoria, Australia

This wine is light salmon pink with raspberry and strawberry fruit characters. Immediately evident are the subtle notes of redcurrant, spicy/smoky oak, and perfumed violets and rose petals. The finish is fresh and clean with delicious lingering flavours, and is best suited to food such as smoked meats or fish, salads, cheeses and other luncheon dishes.

After Dinner Wines and Ports

We have an extensive range of liqueurs and a few great ports.  Or why not try the "stickies" - a term sometimes used to describe luscious dessert wines.

Kingston Estate Saprian Botrytis NV – South Australia

Semillon fruit from one of the winery's premium vineyards was left to hand at the end of the long and cool season resulting in a luscious, mouth-filling drink with typical, slightly feral botrytis aromas and lime characters. The palate is a mixture of honey, limes and nectarines and the finish is dry and refreshing. Best suited to medium-sweet desserts such as fruit salads or fruit tarts.

Lillypilly Noble Muscat of Alexandria  - Leeton, Riverina, New South Wales, Australia

This is a luscious dessert wine made from late harvested Muscat of Alexandria affected by the “Noble Rot” (botrytis). It is the only wine made in this style in Australia. It has a honeyed apricot aroma and its mouth filling flavours are well balanced with a fruit rind tart resistance. It has won numerous awards - and, perhaps more importantly, much acclaim around our dinner table. It is excellent with soft blue cheese or fruit tart.

Mount Horrocks Cordon Cut Riesling  - Clare Valley, South Australia

One of Australia’s most unique dessert wines is made using the cordon cut process - the branches are cut when the grapes are ripe and the fruit is then left hanging on the vine for up to 8 weeks. The fruit naturally dehydrates, concentrating the flavours and giving the wine an amazing intensity and richness. Bright white gold in colour, with citrus fruit aromas of tangerine, mandarin, apricot, lime and candied lemon, the palate is distinctly rich and complex, limey and lusciously sweet.

Rymill June Traminer  - Coonawarra, South Australia

This Botrytis-affected sweet, white wine shows spicy, aromatic and floral notes with a hint of tropical fruits - perfect for Turtle Island! These characters are very evident on the palate with a rich, luscious combination of spicy lychee, apricot and quince flavours followed by a clean, sweet, tangy finish.

All Saints Classic Release Tawny Port - Rutherglen, Victoria, Australia

Rutherglen is the most famous area for ports in Australia. The All Saints Winery has a fine tradition dating back almost a century. While the Classic Tawny Port is not quite as old, it is a rich blend of wines. The palate is dominated by berry fruit with blackberry and blackcurrant being the main flavours. A lovely complement to Stilton.

Quinta Da Ervamoira 10 Year Old Tawny Port - Portugal

This is a wood aged Estate bottled Port.  It is a soft, gentle yet mature wine from the House of Ramos Pinto.  A classic tawny offering light richness of fruit on the nose and the palate low down in the mouth, with a bite of spirit, which shows its age.  The long lingering taste will then hover for some time, before fading away.
