HOW TO GET THERE: By Air: From the U.S., the main gateway is Saint Maarten where connections are made with inter-island carriers who offer many flights daily, it is a 10-minute flight from Juliana Airport by Winair Islands Airways, Tel: (590) 27.61.01., or Air St. Barthelemy, Tel: (590) 27.71.90. also from Grand Case St Martin by Air Guadeloupe (590) 27.61.90. Other gateways: San Juan, St. Thomas, Antigua and Guadeloupe. Air St-Thomas (27 71 76) or Air Guadeloupe (27 61 90) flies from San Juan or St Thomas with an approximately 45 minute flight . St. Barths airport has a short landing strip that now handles nothing larger than 20-seat STOLE aircraft. It is not equipped for night landing. The delightful little terminal has car rental booths, shops, a bar, and the like. Across the road is La Savane Commercial Center, with boutiques, a pharmacy, food market, etc. |

| LANGUAGE: French is the official language; the type spoken by the St. Barths' is a quaint Norman dialect. Most everyone speaks English however, and there is seldom a language problem. |
